The Super 12 Rugby competition has quickly evolved into the premier Rugby competition in the southern hemisphere, being played between representative provincial teams in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. Started in 1997, the competition has been dominated by three sides - the Auckland Blues, the Canterbury Crusaders and the ACT Brumbies. A South African team has yet to win the competition. The success of the competition has meant that other regions within the three participating countries have been clamouring to get a slice of the pie. The
season
starts in February and the finals start in late May, with
the Grand Final in the early June. The
regular season is 11 games long. |
