| CITY OVERVIEW
Stay in Hamilton
|
Hamilton is famed as New Zealand's largest inland city.
Although not as well known as North Island rivals
Auckland and Wellington, Hamilton has several attractions worth visiting. The Waitamo Caves,
which are famous for their gloworms and Lake Rotorua, which is the
region's most popular spot for yachting and swimming, are two of the most
popular tourist attractions on the North Island.
One of the most popular events held throughout the year is the Summer Festival in Hamilton Gardens, which is located alongside the Waikato River, which flows through the centre of Hamilton. The Festival - held in February - hosts several concerts, plays and opera events throughout the month. Another Festival that is famous in New Zealand is the Hot Air Balloon Festival, which is held in April each year. |

The Waikato Chiefs have had a relatively chequered history in the Super 12 competition, once vying closely with the Hurricanes as having the least successful record for a New Zealand side. However, the Chiefs made their first semi-final series in 2004, bowing out to eventual winners the ACT Brumbies. |
| WAIKATO STADIUM |
Formerly known as Rugby Park, Waikato Stadium is located just to the north of the City Centre off Tristram Street and Mill Street. From the City Centre, just walk north along Tristram Street until you reach the ground entrance. |
