2004 International Schedule

Cricket is the premier summer sport in Australia and NZ. Every summer, Australia hosts usually two countries where a total of six test matches are played - three again each country. In between these matches are a series of one-day internationals between these countries leading up to a final between the top two. This pattern is a little different when England come to play every four years for 'The Ashes' - Australia plays 5 test matches against their old enemy.

The Pura Milk Cup is the premier domestic competition in support of the international calender. It is still commonly referred to as the Sheffield Shied. Each State (other than the Northern Territory) plays in the Cup. The same teams also play in the ING Cup - the main one-day domestic international cricket tournament in Australia. The main domestic cricket tournament in NZ is the Shell Shield, which contains teams from the six counties in NZ.

The Pura Milk Cup season starts in late October and ends in early March, with the final being played the week after. The regular season is 10 games long.
